CONSTRUCTION NOISE & vibration |
construction noise & vibtarion impacts
Noise and vibration from construction and demolition activities has the potential to impact public health and the environment. Councils require construction and demolition projects to have a construction management plan or environmental management plan. Noise and vibration impacts are usually covered in a section of the plan and the requirements within that plan will depend on the type of project, its scale, what time periods the works will occur and where it is located.
Construction noise & vibration is generally an accepted part of society and progress. However while noise during the day time is generally accepted for shorter term projects, works occurring during the night, evening or early morning are considered more sensitive time periods by the community. Additionally longer term projects need additional consideration for their prolonged impacts on the community.
Further, noise associated with construction works from infrastructure projects are generally more acceptable than commercial projects by the community as well as regulators, as the socio-economic benefit of completing these works quicker can outweigh the impact to public health and the environment.

How is Noise & Vibration managed
Acoustic Compliance Australia is tasked to provide compliance based assessments and monitoring to the construction industry to assist it in meeting the obligations of applicable policies and guidelines. We are specialists in this field and this work is completed through the use of the following services:
- Monitoring - measuring the impact of works with noise and vibration monitors. Monitor results are viewable in real time via the cloud, as well as automatically sending out SMS and emails alerts if levels go above project noise and/or vibration limits.
- Computer Noise Modelling - predicting the impact of works for various scenarios to understand who will be impact by the works.
- Attended measurements and feasibility studies - On site measurements of works or simulation of works to assess or determine what equipment or process will generate a high risk.
- Management Plans - provide a review of applicable policies and guidelines and summarise what the applicable limits are for the project. Determine at what level low, medium and high impacts will occur. Outline any respite and relocation management actions that should be carried out. Provide advice on how to mitigate or manage works impacts to reduce risk to public health and the environment.
